The Whidby Elementary Medical Magnet Program inspires students to become the next generation of healthcare leaders by integrating medical science into everyday learning. Through hands-on, inquiry-based experiences in Science Lab, Art, Physical Education, and core academics, students explore how the human body works, develop healthy habits, and discover careers in medicine and healthcare.

Our unique program is designed to build curiosity, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills while connecting classroom learning to real-world medical careers. Each grade band follows a developmentally appropriate pathway that allows students to deepen their understanding of health science every year.

Learning Pathway

Kindergarten–2nd Grade
Students build foundational knowledge of the human body through four engaging themes:

  • Quarter 1: My Body Basics
  • Quarter 2: Staying Healthy
  • Quarter 3: How My Body Works
  • Quarter 4: Body Systems Introduction

Young learners explore body parts, healthy habits, nutrition, exercise, and major body systems through interactive investigations, models, and creative projects.

3rd–5th Grade
Students expand their scientific understanding while applying critical thinking to real-world health challenges:

  • Quarter 1: Digestion and Nutrition
  • Quarter 2: Brain and Nervous System
  • Quarter 3: Health and Disease Prevention
  • Quarter 4: Medical Problem Solving

Upper elementary students analyze body systems, investigate diseases, interpret scientific data, and solve authentic medical scenarios using evidence-based reasoning.
